Although I’m a child of the South, raised in Tennessee with a passion for sweet tea and people who say 'y'all,' I also have more than a decade of experience in Los Angeles in the entertainment industry, and another ten years as a marketing strategist, editor, and journalist. It’s been an interesting journey, and I’m so glad it’s brought me here.
I grew up in Cookeville, Tennessee and spent years working behind the counter at my family’s bookstore, BookWorks, where I fell in love with business and the power that ‘story’ plays for people in their everyday lives. In 2014, I combined that love of great content with that long-earned business sense to found The Storyteller Agency, a forward-thinking boutique content marketing agency that produces meaningful, storytelling content for an international clientele. Flash forward a decade and I returned to Cookeville with my husband (also a Cookeville native) to raise our two sons in the same way we grew up. In late 2023, we rebranded our company as Storyteller House, a home for creative marketing, strategy, and design.
I’m frequently asked to speak at conferences, meetings and workshops about the value of storytelling for business and enjoy working with groups to define the stories they will tell. I discovered very quickly that the corporate world wasn’t for me, but I really enjoy pulling together a creative team for amazing projects. You can read more about my professional experience here.
“Be who you were created to be, and you will set the world on fire." - St. Catherine of Sienne
I spend the rest of my time with my husband raising our two sons and (7) fur babies on some rolling acreage in Tennessee. I enjoy catching lightning bugs with my kids, secret camping spots, westbound road trips, anywhere with a coastline, the smell of a campfire, yin yoga - with a heavy emphasis on the Shavasana pose, old-fashioned correspondence, carry-on-only travel with my husband, Afro-Cuban jazz, Chinese takeout, playing the piano and ukulele, and laughing as much as possible everyday. In fact, I borrow my mantra from the beloved e.e.cummings: "The most wasted of all days is one without laughter."
