The Power of Storytelling for a Cause

In last week’s blog post we talked about the power of collaborating with charitable organizations. This is something that we are passionate about here at The Storyteller Agency, and we have been humbled by the collaboration projects that we have worked on with some of the phenomenal charities and non-profit organizations in this area. When you combine the concept of storytelling with a cause that you are passionate about, you have the power to tell an amazing story that will truly make a difference, in the community and in the lives of others. We are passionate about the work that we do with the non-profit organizations in this area, and today we want to share that side of our story with you, as well as highlight some organizations that have been a source of inspiration for us.

Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation

This organization truly leaves us speechless at times. The difference that they make in our community, the countless lives that they touch, the dedication to helping others – we simply can’t say enough. We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with this amazing organization, which has provided us a window into the local children’s charities that they so tirelessly support. Our role in this collaboration with the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation is to help tell the stories of these charities and the children who benefit from their mission. Talk about inspiring work, folks – we have been deeply touched by this partnership.

There aren't enough words allowed in a single blog post to talk about each of the 14 charities that are supported by DWCAF, but we cherished our visits to each and every one, and look forward to sharing more of their stories in 2016.

Children in Crisis, Inc.

This is just one of the organizations that we have had the pleasure of experiencing through our partnership with the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, and wow, talk about a humbling experience. This local organization prides itself in “Providing Homes and Establishing Hope” for the abused, neglected and abandoned children of our community. We were deeply touched by our time spent with the Children in Crisis organization, and we would encourage others to take advantage of any opportunity to be even the smallest part of these children’s story.

Alaqua Animal Refuge

Let’s start by giving you a little fun fact about our team here at The Storyteller Agency – we love animals and we have a particular weakness for rescue dogs. Have you ever seen an episode of our video series, Office Dogs? Stay tuned for some new episodes to come out in 2016!

Ok, so now that you know about our passion for animal rescue, our collaboration projects with Alaqua Animal Refuge will make perfect sense. Are you kidding me? We jumped at the chance to work with this amazing organization. The story behind Alaqua Animal Refuge and its mission is one that we pride ourselves in being a part of, and any day that we have spent working at the refuge has never felt like work at all.

This is an organization that operates entirely on funds that are raised through donations and fund raising events in our community, and yet Alaqua, with the help of owner, Laurie Hood, and her amazing team of staff members and big-hearted volunteers, has managed to help find homes for more than 11,000 animals. Each animal at the refuge has a story to tell and Alaqua is committed to making sure that they all have a happy ending – even if that happy ending is providing unconditional love in the final days of an animal’s life. How can you help to support Alaqua’s mission?

Tell Great (and Inspiring) Stories in 2016

How are you going to give back in 2016? Whether you choose a business collaboration project or a personal volunteer experience, there are countless opportunities to give back and share your story. We are going to challenge ourselves in 2016 – to continue building relationships with local non-profit organizations through collaboration and volunteer work, to share the stories that are created, and to inspire others to give back through the power of storytelling. Let's tell great stories in 2016!

Cause Marketing: Share Your Passion with Your Audience & Reap the Benefits

What is cause marketing? Well, to put it simply, it is the marriage between a business and a non-profit/charitable organization. It can encompass any marketing efforts for charitable purposes and it can be a real win-win situation for the business and the non-profit organization involved. This type of marketing can be extremely beneficial to your business, if done the right way. Cause marketing gives you the power to allow your business to shine in its best light and give back to a cause that you believe in while you’re at it. So, what makes cause marketing so successful, and what is the best way to incorporate it into your business’s marketing strategy? We’ve got you covered!

Why Cause Marketing Works

People support businesses that support their communities, plain and simple. Giving back, whether in your own community or globally, builds trust and positive impressions of your brand. What do all those good vibes get you? Good business. Show your clients that you share their values and goals of making the world a better place. Through tying your business to a cause that matters, you position yourself as a caring, compassionate brand that people want to buy from.

Now that we know a little bit more about what cause marketing is and why it works, let’s talk about how it works. As it goes with all marketing efforts, in order for cause marketing to be successful you need to develop the right strategy. And just as you may have suspected, we’ve got some tips for you. Keep these things in mind when developing your cause marketing strategy.

4 Tips for a Successful Cause Marketing Strategy

Be Authentic

When it comes to cause marketing, authenticity is an important element to keep in mind when developing your strategy. What causes are you truly passionate about? Choosing the right organization to work with can make all the difference. Your heart and soul will go into any work that you truly care about and that will shine through in your marketing efforts.

Be Consistent

When you are truly passionate about a certain charitable cause or organization, it should become a staple presence in your marketing strategy. Consistency will keep your audience coming back as the story of giving back continues to unfold. It gives your audience something to emotionally invest in, and the more consistent you are, the more trust you will build with your audience. So, incorporate your cause marketing efforts into your monthly strategy and keep your audience coming back for more.

Make it Count

When choosing an organization (or multiple organizations) to work with, do your research. Are there any charities/organizations in your community that are reaching out for help on a certain project? Or maybe an organization that may be struggling for support in general? Take the time to look into these things and choose an organization that can genuinely benefit from your partnership, because that is truly the beauty of cause marketing – two organizations working together for a greater good.

 Become a Storyteller

What better time to incorporate storytelling into your marketing strategy than when working with a charity or non-profit organization? This is such a great opportunity to inspire your audience and discover the power of storytelling in many different ways.

·         Tell the story behind the charity/non-profit organization that you are working with.

·         Create a video series that tells the story of the journey of the partnership between your business and the organization of your choice.

·         Tell the inspirational story of an individual or family in your community that the organization of your choice has helped.

There are so many different way to tell these stories, and with the right outlet storytelling can turn your cause marketing efforts into a real page-turner.
