How to Give Back in December

How to Give Back in December

The greatest gifts aren’t those that you receive but those that you give. We at The Storyteller Agency believe we’ve been given a lot and are happy to give wherever we can.  Since we’re sure you feel that way, too, we’ve rounded up some of the best ways to get involved and to #dogoodthings in South Walton this holiday season.

Lend a Hand at Habitat for Humanity Walton County

Give with both hands --literally, on Friday, December 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Join Habitat ReStore Walton County and Habitat for Humanity Walton County for Habitat Walton County WOMEN BUILD. Local volunteer and Habitat members will be working hard to put on siding, paint, hang doors, and more to provide livable dwellings for two Walton County families. Get details and sign up to volunteer here.

Experience Christmas at the Beach

Head over to Gulfplace Saturday, December 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for Christmas at the Beach hosted by Point Washington United Methodist Church. The family friendly event will feature lots of fun family activities like games, music, and photos with Santa. Spend quality time with family while learning more about the missions of local churches and non-profits. Learn what the community needs and think of creative ways to give while enjoying meaningful time celebrating the season with family.

Fashion Flash Sale: Namaste & Shop for a Cause

On December 2, ladies of the Emerald Coast are invited to sip and shop for a cause. Hosted by The Henderson located at 200 Henderson Resort Way in Destin, the event starts at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at 2:00 p.m. Start the day with beach yoga at 9. The Flash Sale starts at 10 where there will be plenty of new and gently worn clothing to shop for. Twenty percent of event proceeds benefit the Future Home of Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Sacred Heart Hospital of the Emerald Coast.

Socialize to Benefit the Arts

Share the gift of art at the Cultural Arts Alliance Winter Social on Thursday, December 7 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at The Foster Gallery in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin.  In addition to honoring artists for the winter rotation and the 'One Size Fits All' exhibition, the event will feature live music, light bites, and a cash bar. Support those who bring so much to our community by selecting a piece or two of CAA members' artworks to give as gifts this holiday. RSVP your attendance to this fun, annual event by clicking this link.

Sip & Shop to Benefit Toys for Tots

On Saturday, December 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., swing by Arnett’s Gulfside Farm & Stables for the 3rd Annual Sip & Shop Winter Market. It’s a family-fun time to wrap up Christmas shopping and to give to Toys for Tots. Just bring an unwrapped gift for a free glass of wine.

Have Breakfast with Santa for Hungry Families

On Saturday, December 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., visit the Courtyard Sandestin for a very special Breakfast with Santa. In addition to a delicious meal, you get a free keepsake photo with old Saint Nick himself. Fifty percent of Bistro sales will go to benefit Food for Thought Outreach, which aims to prevent childhood hunger. For more information, send an e-mail to contact@howardhsp.com.

Feed a Family through Food for Thought

For just $30, you can sponsor a family this holiday season with Food for Thought. Food for Thought is dedicated to no child nor family going hungry and will support at least 500 families this holiday. The organization will extend its hours on 12/11-12/14 to 8:30-4:30 p.m. and to 6:30 p.m. on 12/5 in Santa Rosa Beach and 12/12 at the Destin location, so if you’re giving goods, that gives you extra time to get those oh-so-important donation items delivered.
